What We Do
As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens another.— Proverbs 27:17
an everlasting brotherhood
Founded in the spring of 1978, the Makona Men’s Social Club of McMurry University has a standard of moral excellence and achievement. Makona was established by thirteen college students but has grown to increase its membership to hundreds of men, pledge class after pledge class. Its mission has been to promote leadership and scholarship, and grow in fellowship and friendship within the club, the university, and the community. Through campus events such as Sing Song, Homecoming, or intramurals, Makona has always been a visible institution of the McMurry campus.
Upon leaving the university, Makona alumnus decided to form this organization as a way for us to both remain connected to each other, and to club itself. With area meetups, dinners, scholarships, and other activities, the brothers of Makona can ensure that leaving campus wasn’t the end of our time with Makona — just a brand new chapter of brotherhood.
